In 1974, several Atari engineers began working on a way to bring
the Pong arcade experience home. With a working prototype they soon struck a deal with Sears, who began distributing Atari designed manufactured pong consoles in 1975 under it's Telegames brand label.

The home pong revolution had started, and Atari entered the market with it's own brand in 1976. Between 1975 and 1977, Atari designed 21 different Pong consoles that were released under the Sears Telegames or the Atari labels.

Unfortunately with the release of the Fairchild Video Entertainment System in 1976 and Atari's own programmable console the Video Computer System (2600) in 1977, the era of pong and it's many imitators came to an end. It's lasting legacy was clear however - the entry of home video game consoles in to rec-rooms across the world.
